This is me being inspirational and such.

Some times, I find writing somewhat difficult. Not because I don’t know what to write, but because it’s diffucult to pick one idea and run with it. Therefore, this post will be a collection of my random thoughts, just because.
Here it goes:
When is the last time you “dialed” a phone number? But yet, we still use that term.
Why do some people choose a side to drape the toilet paper end from? I don’t even think about it. You can be like my kids and set the new role on top of the old, spent one. That way, it doesn’t matter.
If someone walks into a room and wants to get past an individual who has his feet on the coffee table, is it up to the walking person to step over the legs, or should the reclining person retract them? Who has the right of way?
I just don’t know.
Why is it okay to go to the mailbox in just your bathing suit, but not just in your boxers?
Tomorrow, I think I will wear my robe to the post office.
After church on Sunday afternoons, I would…….I just saw the prettiest cardinal sitting on the fence…………………………………………..wow……………………………….what was I saying?
You get the point.
I like to post the link to my illustrations on Facecrack…I mean Facebull…darn it, I mean Facelift…Gah, you know what I mean.
Some of the comments that come from individuals pertain to the story. Most times, they continue the story, or give some more detail about the subject matter, even if it’s a surreal creature. I love this. I illustrate a flash of a story, and the rest is fabricated by the viewer. I say, have at it. Use the imagination God gave you.
Rock on.
The color swatches above the sentry is the palette I created while coloring yesterday’s sketch. I have this habit of drawing a random line and then imagining the possible sketches that may come out of it. This is one of those sketches.
The palette portion of this piece could possibly resemble some famous works of art, such as some later works by Kandinsky. So, if my intention was to create the palette as the work of art, instead of the drawing of the sentry (which, happened to be a doodle I did while creating the palette), my question is, what’s the difference?
The answer is, absolutely nothing. They are both a by-product of the process. If I cut the two apart and posted them side by side each day, there would be some who like the palette better than the sketch.
And that is okay by me.
I have no intention of posting the palettes every week, by the way. I was just making a point.

reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.”

I am really enjoying my new Copic markers. It is as close to watercolors as I can get in a marker. The best example is how well they blend together in the bilge rat’s face – especially on his cheek.
This sketch started out as a portrait of Don Knotts. It didn’t really work out that way. Now, I’m not sure where I was going with it. Kinda creepy, actually. I like it a lot. If I were to paint this, everything would be a whispy pink cotton candy texture, just like you’re inside the machine that puts it on the stick.
Hence, the name.
A lot of wonderful things a birthed from mistakes. Playdough, for instance. It started life as a really crappy wallpaper remover.
If I knew pajama living was so damn comfortable, I would have done it years ago. And I have no dry cleaning bill. Lessened my carbon footprint to boot. I’m so green.
Ever since I learned about Epicureanism in college, I knew that was my kind of philosophy. It makes more sense now. As I get older, pain is a daily part of life. It is sad but true. So, the more comfortable and simple I keep my life, the better the quality.
At some point, I know I am going to have to get my butt back in the gym, however until I feel the sting of my belt buckle digging into my dunlop, I will enjoy every second of my sensible-shoe-sweat-pants-in-public regimen. Sorry, ladies, this man is not available. He is in love with his simple lifestyle and there’s only room for three on his couch, and those seats are taken by me, myself and I.
More of this new technique. I am really enjoying the dark lines and the relationship they create with the white of the blank page.
If you don’t have a clear idea of what you want to do with your life, you will work for someone who does.
That’s just reality.
It amazes me what we, as a collective, believe. We argue about politics, but yet they really don’t directly impact our daily lives. I stopped following politics closely about five years ago. That is about the same time I gave up watching The Sopranos. I just don’t need that useless shit filling my head. I read about current events just so I know what’s going on in the world, but I don’t “take a stand” one way or the other. If you ask me how I feel about the current president, I will tell you, “He has a tough job and he’s doing what he thinks is best for the country”. That’s it. If someone else occupied the office, I would say the same thing about them. Any more than that is just my crappy opinion about useless crap and frankly, I would rather talk about what I had for lunch.
I am really digging the new technique. It’s really obvious here. I didn’t blend anything at all in this sketch. I am letting the lines truly define light and shadow.
Oh, and as far as giving my opinion about artists, I appreciate every single one of them.
